Ardagh Bluffs

Enjoy a picturesque walk or a hike on the Ardagh Bluffs! This park is filled with several different trails, including single-track biking trails ranging from easy, moderate and challenging. People often visit this trail to go on a run, take their dog for a walk or go on a nature trip.

Nine Mile Portage Heritage Trail

Trek through this multi-use recreational trail that runs through Memorial Square on Barrie’s downtown waterfront, to the Fort Willow Heritage Site in Springwater Township. The Nine Mile Portage Heritage trail is approximately 5 km long within Barrie and 10 km in the Township of Springwater, leading you through these beautiful natural areas.

The Great Trail

This Trans Canada Trail has been rebranded as The Great Trail. Walk through approximately 20 km of nature, which connects the Essa Township and the Springwater Township.

This trail also passes through several of Barrie’s best parks including Sunnidale Park, Queens Park, Meridian Square, Centennial Park, Southshore Park, Allandale Station Park, the Whiskey Creek Walk, Huronia North Park and Lennox Park.

Centennial Park & Beach

If you’re ever craving a warm day at the beach, then you don’t have to go far! The Centennial Park and Beach is only minutes away from Essa Towns. This sandy beach includes a beach volleyball court, an accessible playground, food concession, a recreational trail and a parking lot. It’s also walking distance to Barrie’s downtown area!

Johnson’s Beach

This quaint beach has approximately 2-acres of sand and provides the perfect spot to endure scenic views of the shoreline and the city. Johnson’s Beach also offers easy access to the North Shore multi-use trail nearby.

Minet’s Point Park and Beach

Minest’s Point Beach is a hot spot on Barrie’s waterfront to enjoy windsurfing, boating and swimming. Bring your children to the beach, which also includes an exciting playground.
